Lithium batteries are very popular with all kinds of projects, especially those that are customized. There are several options available on the market, but sometimes you may feel the need for a custom lithium ion battery. Building a battery from scratch can be a bit hectic, especially because of the many tools that are needed to build them. However, there are some kits that can be very useful if at all you are willing to do a test.

There are manufacturers that make lithium ion batteries personalized according to the specs you may have fixed.

Make a choice

The choice of battery chemistry is a very important thing to do. There are different types of batteries that you can use for your projects. These include:

Li-ion (lithium ion)
LiFePO4 (Lithium-ion phosphate)
Li-Po (lithium polymer)battery 4545 1557179168 87.116.178.212The most common batteries are lithium ions. This means that you can find them in different varieties, even if the properties are all similar. They are usually at a reasonable price, sure if they don’t abuse them, and have a high energy density. Most electric vehicle manufacturers use these ionic batteries. It is one of the best options when you have a project unless there is an advantage that you want to play with one of the other options.
The LiFePO4 option is not as dense in terms of energy as lithium ions. That means they are heavier and bigger. Most of the batteries in this category are equipped with download ratings that are much lower. This option turns out to be a little more expensive and tends to be built safer. His life cycle is quite long.

Li-Po batteries are common to R/C drones. Their power level is pretty high. They can also be dangerous, especially if not handled with care. It is recommended that you use this option only if you need to feed projects that need high power.

Why the custom lithium ion battery

Compared to all other types of batteries, lithium-ion batteries are the best in terms of safety, cost and performance. That’s why most people manage their DIY projects using this kind of batteries.

It is important to choose the right type of batteries for any project you intend to do. There are some specs that you need to be familiar with if you are going to choose the right type of battery. These include power, current and voltage capacity. This changes with specific projects. When you add a set of batteries, you are essentially increasing the voltage to suit your needs.

You can choose to increase the capacity of the battery by adding some parallel cells. If a battery has 10A, it means that three cells can supply 30A when they are parallel. When you add cells, you also increase the power capacity. When you need a specific type of AMP-hour battery, you need to calculate how many cells are needed. With the capacity, it becomes easier to calculate how long the batteries can last.
