There is a rather premium feeling for the entire YOGA 730 machine, which extends to the bright and vibrant IPS screen. It’s quite bright and thoughtful-although it could have been up to the aggressive show lights of the MWC-and there are some serious bevels going on, but this is an undeniably appealing piece of kit.
As with other models of Yoga, the hinge means that you can use the 730 either as a laptop or flipped as a tablet, along with almost any orientations in between until you can find a way to get it lift.

The text quality is excellent, with smooth and sharp characters rivaling the laser quality and don’t let your business down if you are working from home. Color graphics and photographic prints are very good, and our postcard impressions took 55 seconds to produce, which once again is quite reasonable for a printer at this price.
Brother indicates the reduced price of its ink cartridges, with a value package containing the four standard sized cartridges-cyan, magenta, yellow and black-which cost only £33.60 (£8.40 per cartridge).
That sounds good-but the catch is that these cartridges last only about 200 pages, which means that mono text documents work at a weight of 4.2 p each, and 12.6 p for color documents.

Page yields remain relatively modest, though, in 400 pages for mono and color printing, but at least it brings text pages at 3.2 p per page, and 9.7 p for color.
Those prices are at the highest end of the average costs still for inkjet printers, but they are tolerable for a home printer which is only needed for “work under the volume” (as the Brother recommends).
The Brother DCP-J774DW is a small, carefully designed printer that is well suited for home use-although it is a little noisier than we would have liked.
But it is the cost of the ink cartridges that you will have to think about. To be honest, the relatively low cost in front of the package of four value cartridges can appeal to home users who know they won’t be making too much impression on a regular daily basis.
However, the costs they run mean that the Brother DCP-J774DW will not be ideal for domestic or small office workers who need to print documents every day of the week.
Smart speakers are one of the most popular devices at the moment, and now you can buy one that suits you.
The Echo Amazon ($179) is a voice-activated speaker that can, when asked, tell you the latest news, play music, schedule timers and alarms and tell jokes.
It is powered by Alexa, a digital assistant-available in English. Along with the standard Echo, there’s also the point ($89) that has all the smarts, but only a small speaker and the Echo Plus ($269), which is higher, has a better speaker and includes technology that makes it easy to set up a smart home.
After living with Alexa for a couple of weeks I found the Echo to be a great gadget-but that doesn’t mean that you need one.
Configuration To take advantage of it, you’ll also need a Spotify or Amazon music account, since playing music is one of Alexa’s best talents. The Echo is configured using the Alexa app on your smartphone (either Android or Apple). The application is key customizing its echo and is where you will find and download what Amazon calls “skills”, which are similar to applications for a smartphone.
Amazon music is superb. After a free trial of 90 days, it costs $14.50 per month. You can also use Spotify, IHeartRadio, and Tunel. The downside to using those as opposed to Amazonian music is that you have to say your name when you require music.
Alexa is very accurate when listening to the requests for songs, although she occasionally slipped-I still got Kid rock when ordering a “rock playlist”.
In general, your ability to hear your voice is impressive, especially when the music is playing. However, be prepared to raise your voice occasionally and spell out your words.
The sound is good and will satisfy most people, even if they struggle with a lot of bass.
If you buy an Echo, you need to be happy for Amazon to record the commands and use the data. Although this can be eliminated, in fact, Alexa works best when you have access to it.
You also need to accept another level of gadget intrusion into your life. While Alexa is convenient, it is another device to deal with and some people can be sent back with it by invading their living room, especially if you are trying to limit the technology in your home.
Verdict
I can understand why Amazon has sold millions of echoes – they are fun to use and if you are willing to spend time they are very helpful.
The Echo Standard ($179) is the best choice for most people and offers good value for money.
If you love music, Alexa is great. While it’s easy to control music with your phone, being able to order songs and playlists is brilliant. However, it means to register to Amazon music or say “on Spotify” a lot.
It also takes a bit of work to get you to do more than the basics. You will have to spend some time to get the most out of it or risk becoming a fun party trick that will take place when visiting friends.

Ricoh tends to focus on the corporate market these days, producing high-performance laser printers for office use. However, its new range of SP 150 is a bit more modest, and is aimed at home users or small businesses that simply need a fast, high quality laser printer for black and white documents.
The print quality is more than good – as you would expect from a laser printer – with its 600dpi resolution producing soft and finely detailed text. But it is the speed of SP 150SUw that gives you an advantage over a normal inkjet printer. In our review with a series of Word and PDF documents, the SP 150SUw quietly and quickly turned 20 pages per minute-only slightly below Ricoh’s 22ppm color speed. This is well beyond the speed of most inkjet printers in this price range, so the SP 150SUw will gain your livelihood if you regularly need to print text documents.

The print and copier functions are only black and white, but the 1200dpi scanner can scan in color, so you have the ability to scan photos and other color documents that you can email to other people, or edit on your PC or Mac.
The 150SUw SP comes with a standard sized toner cartridge that should last about 700 pages, and Ricoh points out that its cartridges do not require a separate drum mechanism that needs to be replaced every few years (as is the case with some printers Laser). The replacements are £65.16 for the standard toner capacity, or £91.39 for a high-performance cartridge that provides 1500 pages.
