Precisely, how to Cast VLC from Windows 10 to Chromecast

To cast VLC from Windows 10 to Chromecast, simply just open VLC and select Playback > Renderer from the menu bar at the top of the player. Then choose the name of your Chromecast device from the listing.

The below steps will help you to understand how to cast VLC from Windows 10 to Chromecast:

Kick off the VLC media player on your Windows 10 pc.
Then click on “Playback” option in the menu bar placed at the top of your VLC window.
Hover your mouse pointer over Renderer. A menu will start. Pick your Chromecast device from the list. It may be only labeled as Chromecast, or you may have renamed it.VLC

Open a video or audio data file for casting. If you see a window appear that states, “Unsafe website,” simply click “View Certificate” and after that “Accept Permanently” button.

How to Cast VLC from Mac to Chromecast

It is very similar to cast your videos from your Mac to Chromecast. All you need to do is choose “Playback > Renderer” option on VLC media player from the Apple menu bar, and then select the label of your Chromecast device from the list for casting.

For precise steps, you could check out the below guide:

Open your Applications folder and then kick off VLC media player.
Click “Playback” from the Apple menu bar, which is located at the top of your screen. If you do not notice Playback, make certain you click on the VLC application first.
Then hover your computer mouse pointer over Renderer. A menu will open. Select your Chromecast device from the list. It may be labeled as Chromecast, or you may have renamed it.
Next, open and search a video or audio file for playback. VLC media player will cast the video file to your Chromecast TV instantly.
In these two ways, you could simply cast videos from VLC media player to Chromecast from your Windows 10 and Mac computer.

Options to VLC Renderer Does Not Find Chromecast

By way of the above procedures, you could very easily cast videos from Windows 10/Mac VLC media player to Chromecast. But often, you may not find any Chromecast option on your VLC Renderer. How to resolve this?

If you start VLC, click through to “Playback > Renderer”, but find not any Chromecast device. You could consider the below suggestions to fix the VLC Renderer does not find Chromecast problem.

Make sure your VLC and Chromecast are under the exact same WIFI network.
Under Renderer, there is a Scan option. Click it to discover your Chromecast. If VLC is stuck on scanning for renderer, you need to use VLC to open a random multicast network stream in the range of address 224.0.0.X, where X is in between 100 and 199. You should see there is nothing played (because there is no such stream available). Simply wait for a while and then look at for available renderers once again. Now they must show up (may possibly take a couple of seconds but not more than a minute).
Click on “Tools” in the top menu of VLC, tap “Preferences”, and then click “Reset Preferences” at the bottom left area. Then, re-open the “Playback > Renderer” to see if there is any kind of available Chromecast device
Restart VLC and Chromecast, and then see Chrome is available.
If you have tried using these methods but nothing found, you may try another pc.

Options to Black Screen in VLC Casting

Some VLC and Chromecast users have noted that “Casting VLC to Chromecast results in black screen with only the name of the file shown on TV”. You may try the below options to see if the case could be fixed or not:

Make absolutely sure that VLC and Chromecast are on the same network.
Disconnect from the VPN service if connected.
Update the VLC application to its most recent version.
Switch your firewall off, since it may block the ports. As an alternative, allow VLC port in firewall settings.
Look at your network settings and change your network from public to private.
Check out your Chromecast configurations in VLC and turn off Audio passthrough: click Tools > Preferences > click All at the bottom left > search Chromecast > uncheck Enable Audio passthrough > click Save.
Usually, this will help you out of the problem of black screen in VLC media player casting to Chromecast.
