Apple finally released new special edition iPhone X

Ending months of mystery and leaks, Apple finally released the long-awaited special edition iPhone, the iPhone X or the iPhone 10. Apple’s new flagship phone comes with an edge-to-edge screen, front-facing camera, new Face ID sensors and comes sans the home button.

Teasing the new device, Apple CEO Tim Cook said, “Over the past decade, we’ve pushed forward with innovation after innovation, bringing us to this moment, when we can create devices that are far more intelligent, far more capable, and far more creative than ever before.”

The iPhone X features glass on both the front and the back, with “surgical-grade” stainless steel around the sides. The water-resistant phone has been released in two colors – space gray and silver. Apple said it also comes with a Super Retina display – the highest pixel density (458ppi) display ever in an iPhone.

The device measures 5.8 inches in diagonal size and has a resolution of 2436 x 1125.iphonenew

Further, it is also the first OLED display in an iPhone.

Phil Schiller said, it’s “the first OLED display great enough to be in an iPhone.”

Much like the iPhone 8, the iPhone X also has True Tone display technology.

For the first time, Apple has omitted the home button and has replaced it with an upward swipe from the bottom of the phone.

Apple has also moved away from fingerprint authentication and has replaced it with the Face ID – which unlocks the phone just by looking at it. The technology combines an IR system with the front camera and a flood illuminator that beams a light at a user’s face to help it be recognized even in the dark.

Apple also said during the launch that it has built a dedicated neural engine that is based on a dual-core custom chip design to process face recognition in real time.

The company has pointed out that there is a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of another person being able to look at your phone and unlock it through Face ID.

The tech giant has said that the new face authentication will also work with Apple Pay and all third-party apps.

Apple said that the iPhone X has dual 12-megapixel rear cameras, and is equipped with dual optical image stabilization. It said that the sensors are larger and faster, and that the main camera has an f/1.8 aperture while the telephoto lens has an f/2.4 aperture. There is also a quad-LED True Tone flash with a supposedly twice the uniformity of light.

The new phone comes with stereo speakers. The iPhone X also comes with the A11 processor that was introduced with the iPhone 8 earlier in the event. iphonex 1 1

The device has two performance cores, four high-efficiency cores, and the first Apple-designed GPU.

Apple also introduced the AirPower charging pad, that is set to be available next year and is meant to unify the wireless charging of all its mobile devices.

The iPhone X also supports LTE Advanced and the incoming Bluetooth 5.0 standard.

Apple said that preorders for the smartphone, priced from $999 with 64GB of storage, open on October 27 and shipping will begin on November 3.

The iPhone X also comes with an upgraded option with 256GB of storage.
