I want to share with you how you can stream HBO Max on your Discord server so you and your friends can watch together while playing games or just hanging out. I love using Discord to connect with my friends and share our favorite shows and movies. And the best part is, you can also stream Hulu, Netflix, and other streaming services on Discord too!
To get started, make sure you have the latest version of the Discord app and an active HBO Max subscription. Keep in mind that while the basic streaming service is accessible on Discord, only users with a paid subscription can stream in 4K. I recommend getting a Discord Nitro account to get the best streaming quality.
First, open the Discord desktop app and log into your HBO Max account on your web browser. Select the movie or series you want to share with your friends.
Then, go to User Settings in the Discord app by clicking on the small gear icon in the bottom left corner next to the headset icon. Under Activity Settings, select Registered Games from the sidebar menu. Click Add it! Select the open browser where HBO Max is from the drop-down menu. Then click the Add Game button.
Next, choose the server where you want to stream HBO Max and go to the Discord voice channel. This is where you and your friends can meet up and talk while watching the show or movie together. You can even create your own server and voice chat room for watch parties.
Once you’re in the voice channel, select the Share Screen option above your username. When the pop-up window appears, select the screen or app with HBO Max opened. In the next window, you can adjust the stream quality to get the best available resolution and frame rate. Keep in mind that if you don’t have a Nitro account, you can only stream in 720p resolution and at 15 or 30fps (choose 30).
When everything is set, click the blue Go Live button at the bottom of the screen to start streaming. And that’s it! You and your friends can now enjoy the show or movie together. If you want to stop streaming, simply click the Disconnect button.
