Asus has made an exciting announcement regarding their latest screen update, featuring an astonishing 540Hz refresh rate achieved through an overclocking feature. This impressive display, developed in collaboration with panel manufacturer AU Optronics and NVIDIA, now has an official product name: the Asus ROG Swift Pro PG248QP. Boasting a 24.1″ size and a 1920 x 1080 resolution TN Film panel, it is being marketed as the ultimate eSports monitor, offering exceptional specifications.
The screen utilizes a TN Film technology panel, which we previously discussed as a new offering from AU Optronics. Asus refers to it as an “Esports TN (E-TN)” panel in their marketing, highlighting its ability to deliver response times 60% faster than standard TN Film panels. This enhanced responsiveness is crucial for supporting the extraordinary 540Hz refresh rate. In our recent comparison between the 360Hz BenQ Zowie XL2566K, featuring TN Film technology, and the 360Hz IPS panels available on the market, we observed the benefits of TN Film in terms of response times and motion clarity. By employing TN Film technology, Asus aims to maximize the refresh rate and cater to the demands of top-tier professional gaming and eSports.
