How to Screenshot on an Android Device
- Using the Hardware Buttons:
- Standard Method: Press the Power button and the Volume Down button simultaneously. Hold them for a couple of seconds until you see the screen flash or hear a camera shutter sound.
- Older Devices (Pre-2016): Some older models may require you to press the Power button and the Home button simultaneously.
- Using Gestures:
- On some Android devices, such as Samsung Galaxy phones, you can use gestures to take a screenshot. Swipe the side of your hand across the screen from left to right or right to left.
- Using Quick Settings:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Settings menu.
- Look for the Screenshot icon (it might be labeled differently depending on your device) and tap it.
- Using Google Assistant:
- Activate Google Assistant by saying “Hey Google” or pressing and holding the Home button.
- Say “Take a screenshot.”
How to Screenshot on an iPad or iPhone

- Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch and turn on AssistiveTouch.
- Tap the AssistiveTouch menu icon on the screen.
- Tap Device > More > Screenshot.
- Using Siri:
- Activate Siri by saying “Hey Siri” or pressing the Side/Home button.
- Say “Take a screenshot.”
How to Screenshot on a Mac
- Capture Entire Screen:
- Press Shift + Command (⌘) + 3.
- The screenshot will be saved to your desktop.
- Capture a Portion of the Screen:
- Press Shift + Command (⌘) + 4.
- Your cursor will turn into a crosshair. Click and drag to select the area you want to capture. Release the mouse or trackpad button to take the screenshot.

How to Screenshot on Windows 10 and 11
- Using the Print Screen (PrtScn) Key:
- Entire Screen: Press the PrtScn key. This captures the entire screen and copies it to the clipboard. You can paste it into an image editor like Paint or a document.
- Active Window: Press Alt + PrtScn to capture the currently active window. This also copies the screenshot to the clipboard.
- Entire Screen to File: Press Windows key + PrtScn. This captures the entire screen and automatically saves it as a file in the Screenshots folder inside your Pictures library.
- Using the Snipping Tool:
- Open the Snipping Tool from the Start menu.
- Click New to start a new snip and select the area of the screen you want to capture.
- You can choose from four snip types: Free-form, Rectangular, Window, and Full-screen.
- After capturing, you can annotate and save the screenshot.
- Using Snip & Sketch:
- Press Windows key + Shift + S. This opens a small menu at the top of the screen with options to capture a rectangular snip, freeform snip, window snip, or full-screen snip.
- After selecting the type of snip, the screen dims, and you can make your selection.
- The screenshot is copied to the clipboard and you can click on the notification that appears to open it in Snip & Sketch for annotation and saving.
- Using the Game Bar:
- Press Windows key + G to open the Game Bar.
- Click the Capture button (camera icon) in the Game Bar overlay or press Windows key + Alt + PrtScn to capture a screenshot of your active window.
- Screenshots taken with the Game Bar are saved in the Captures folder, inside the Videos library by default.
