Teac MCD800 review: Bluetooth streaming, turntable…plays everything

Release music to your Bluetooth NFC-streaming smartphone or tablet
With built-in Bluetooth, streaming music wirelessly from smartphones, tablets, laptops, or PCs is easy. Just pair your device and enjoy your library complete with loudly played music. It’s also a great way to stream music services like Spotify or Deezer. NEAR Field Communication (NFC) makes connecting your NFC-enabled smartphone or tablet a simple shot away.

With selected smartphones, you can establish a bluetooth ® connection by simply placing your smartphone at the top of the unit. If your smartphone does not support instant pairing, you can establish a bluetooth ® connection through a conventional scanning process.

3-speed turntable supports 78 rpm SP records
A 3-speed automatic turntable can play 33, 45 and 78 rpm discs, including 7″ vinyl records. The factory-installed sapphire pen, designed for LP/EP discs, can be replaced by a diamanta stylus (SPL-102, sold separately) designed exclusively for SP discs.Unlike most systems, the Teac MCD800 has an integrated turntable. The automatic return cover is very easy to use and will also play 78s (if equipped with the optional SPL-102 stylus).

USB interface
Located at the top of the drive, a USB interface allows you to connect your USB media device and play MP3 and WMA music files.

RADIO CD and tuner
To complete this system with all functions is a CD player and an FM/AM radio. The CD comes with a full range of program/repeat/shuffle functions and will also play MP3 and WMA encoded discs. FM/AM radio has a pre-setting memory of 20 stations at each frequency.

Wide and natural sound
Using separate two-way speakers powered by a 10.10 watt amplifier, the MCD800 delivers ample, full sound. Speakers use 1.5″ tweeters paired with separate 3.5″ woofers to give excellent clarity between treble and mid-range.

Timer function
The timer function allows you to set an activation/off timer, which means that the system can be used as an alarm clock. There’s also an adjustable screen and a 90-minute sleep timer, making this system ideal for the bedroom.

Other features
Proving that Teac has thought of everything, the Teac MCD800 also comes with a remote control, headphone jack and auxiliary input/output. The auxiliary input allows you to connect another source, such as TV, cassette cover, game console, or other device.Photo:Teac
