Today, the rear camera technology has made vehicles much safer than before. Now, you can reverse your car without worrying about your kid playing behind your car. These devices have certainly made driving much easier. If you are looking for a good rear camera, we suggest you consider some tips to make an informed decision. Let’s take a look at the advice you should consider.

Field of view

Many factors affect the FOV of a camera, such as the focal length, the type of lens and the size of the image sensor, just to name a few. With a larger sensor, the camera can take higher-quality images as it will work better in low light conditions. In addition, the field of view will be wider.rear view camera

Types of Monitors

Today, most monitors are based on LCD technology, but you can still find some that are CRT. Among the LCD monitors, the best technology is TFT-LCD screens. So, you might want to opt for them.

As far as the size of the screen, it’s your personal taste. You can go to a bigger screen if you are on big screens. Usually people opt for a screen that is between 5 inches and 10 inches.

Types of rear view cameras

As far as buying rear view cameras is concerned, you can choose from three types. Let’s talk about them.

1. Surface Mounting

You can mount this type of camera on any type of flat surface. They are usually mounted on elevated surfaces, as this gives the camera a wide view for a better depth perception. If you need it for a large vehicle, be sure to opt for a surface mounted camera.

2. Flush Mounting

As the name indicates, this type of camera is fixed inside a hole in the body of the machine. The only two that are visible are the bezel and the lens. Since this camera is low in position, it cannot offer more depth. Therefore, be sure to consider this fact before opting for this type of unit.

3. License Mounted

A license-mounted camera is fixed in a recording hole. Therefore, it can be easily installed without any modifications. Depending on where the plate is located, the location of the unit can be close to the road or out of the center.

Image sensors

In general, the rear view camera sensor is CMOS or CCD. The later produces a better quality video than the previous one. It works even better in low light conditions. As far as price is concerned, the CCD can cost more than the CMOS type. We suggest you opt for the type of CCD.

Long story short, if you’re going to buy a rear camera for your vehicle, be sure to consider all the factors and types discussed in this article. This will help you avoid the units that will not be appropriate for you. In other words, helping you make an informed decision is the goal of this guide. Photo:Banggood
