4k monitor BenQ EW3270U review: excellent resolution + immersive gaming experiences

BenQ EW3270U is a simple, professional-looking monitor that fits well with any office. The frames are quite thin on three sides, but they stand out from the screen, and the lower bezel is much thicker. The stand has a modern look with sharp corners and doesn’t require much space.
For a VA panel, horizontal viewing angles are fine. Gamma change occurs very quickly when moving out of the center, but the colors remain quite accurate until you reach a moderate angle.
The BenQ EW3270U is a excellent monitor for most uses. It is best suited for dimmer environments as it cannot be very bright, but can display deep uniform blacks thanks to its VA panel. Its large screen size and 4k resolution are ideal for productivity and immersive gaming experiences. It can handle reflections well, but unfortunately, its ergonomics are quite bad, so it is difficult to adapt to its optimal visual position. It has a low input delay and its response time is good, resulting in very little blurring of movement.BenQ EW3270UThe BenQ EW3270U is a awesome monitor for gaming. It has a low input delay and supports FreeSync to reduce screen tearing. It has a large screen size and excellent 4k resolution that can show every little detail of your game. The refresh rate is limited to 60 Hz, but motion management is good and there is very little motion blur in fast motion scenes. Unfortunately, there is no additional game feature; However, it has a flicker-free backlight that can help reduce eye fatigue in long gaming sessions.
The BenQ EW3270U is decent for HDR games. It has a high native contrast ratio and decent black uniformity so you can show deep blacks in a dark room, but lacks a local attenuation feature to further improve performance. It also has a low input delay, which makes it very responsive to your actions, and supports FreeSync, as well as being G-SYNC compatible. Unfortunately, the monitor can’t be very bright in HDR mode, which is pretty disappointing.BenQ EW3270U is a good office monitor. It has excellent 4k resolution and a large screen size of 32 inches, which allows you to work comfortably without having to constantly move windows. It has correct viewing angles, especially for a VA panel, but the image won’t be as accurate when displayed to the side. Unfortunately, its ergonomics are bad, so if you need to share your work regularly, it might be worth driving it on VESA.
BenQ EW3270U is a good 4k monitor with decent image quality. It has a VA panel with a high native contrast ratio and a decent black uniformity, which allows it to produce deep and uniform blacks. It has low input delay and fast response times to provide clear images with minimal motion blur; however, the refresh rate is limited to 60 Hz. Players will surely appreciate its compatibility with FreeSync and G-SYNC, and although it supports HDR, this monitor can’t be bright enough for a satisfying HDR experience. Plus, its ergonomics are pretty bad and its viewing angles are fine, so it might be worth investing in VESA support if you often need to share work or content. In general, it is a monitor that works well for most uses, and its simple design should fit anywhere.   photo: BenqBenQ EW3270U

The BenQ EW3270U offers a wide range of settings, providing users with 10 picture modes to choose from, such as Standard, HDR, Cinema HDR, Low Blue Light, Game, Photo, sRGB, Rec. 709, Eco, M-book, and User-defined options.

When the monitor detects an HDR signal, it automatically switches to HDR mode. For standard-definition content, activating the HDR button at the bottom right corner enhances contrast and color through HDR emulation. The button also activates B.I.+ (Brightness Intelligence Plus technology), which adjusts brightness and color-temperature levels based on ambient lighting conditions using an ambient light sensor.

Out of the box, the EW3270U demonstrates impressive color accuracy, as confirmed by the chromaticity chart in sRGB mode, where the red, green, and blue color measurements closely align with their ideal CIE coordinates.

In terms of energy efficiency, the EW3270U outperforms other monitors. It consumes 44 watts in Standard mode and 24 watts in ECO mode, which is more efficient than comparable models like the BenQ PV3200PT, BenQ BL3201PH, and Dell U3417W in Standard mode. The smaller EL2870U uses even less power with 17 watts in ECO mode and 30 watts in Standard mode. The Asus PA328Q consumes 44 watts in Eco mode and 53 watts in Standard picture mode.

The monitor’s construction primarily features plastic casing, though it remains well-built and sturdy, offering a satisfying heft to the entire assembly. The stand is designed with a wide plastic front foot, resembling an inverted number 7, providing a stable mount with minimal wobbling for the screen.

The EW3270U boasts a 16:9, 4K display with a native resolution of 3,840 by 2,160 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 140 pixels per inch. Its native contrast of 3,000:1 and brightness of 300 nits are suitable for everyday use. While the 4ms response rate and 60Hz maximum refresh rate may not appeal to high-end monitor enthusiasts, the monitor still supports HDR10 and a dynamic contrast ratio of 20 million:1, along with covering 95% of the DCI-P3 color space, leading to excellent color accuracy, despite not being an IPS monitor.

With excellent viewing angles, the EW3270U accommodates vertical display setups with a VESA mount. Although it claims HDR10 support, it falls short of the 1,000 nits peak brightness ideally desired for HDR standards. However, considering its purpose as a monitor with a shorter viewing distance compared to HDR televisions, this slight shortfall isn’t a deal-breaker.

The BenQ EW3270U is a 32-inch UHD monitor that offers good value for its resolution and screen size. It impresses with accurate colors and solid grayscale performance, making it an attractive and affordable option for those seeking UHD resolution in a large HDR monitor.
