Headphone Amplifier/DAC Sennheiser HDV820 – optimal sound

Maximize the potential of your headphones with the Sennheiser HDV820 headphone amplifier.

The perfect combination for Sennheiser and other reference headphones
With most hi-fi amplifiers, the built-in headphone amplifier is usually something of a later idea. Certainly, if you have a pair of quality headphones and/or use phones often, then it’s worth getting a dedicated amp, like the Sennheiser HDV820. Years of specialist experience have produced a headphone amplifier of absolute precision.

Quality components and gain control for optimal sound
Using high-performance components, the Sennheiser HDV820 offers a level of detail and staging that standard headphone amplifiers can’t expect to match. Quality volume control not only offers precise volume, but also ultra-low distortion levels. There is a five-step gain control at the back of the unit. This optimizes playback, whatever the headset’s impedion.

Much more than a headphone amplifier – it’s also a quality DAC
With an integrated DAC ESS Sabre32 (Digital to Analogue Convertor), you can connect digital input sources without the need for a separate DAC. A selection of coaxial, optical and USB inputs ensures connection with PC, laptop, Blu-ray/DVD/CD player and virtually any source with digital output. The XLR balanced analog output also allows you to connect to a suitable amplifier, such as the Cambridge Audio Azur 851A, and use the HDV820 as a stand-alone DAC.

Pro connectivity
With a wide range of different types of plugs, you can connect most headphones to this amp. The XLR3, XLR4 and Pentaconn 4.4mm sockets are perfect for the growing number of balanced output headphones. A high-quality 6.35mm jack is also available for standard headphones. On the back, the RCA phono and XLR-3 inputs are available to connect to the amplifier or music source. For digital sources there is optical, coaxial and USB.

Precision construction
A precisely constructed anodized housing not only looks and feels good, but also offers protection against electrical and mechanical interference. With its full shielding and dedicated power supply, the Sennheiser HVD820 offers great advantages over built-in headphone amps with much lower distortion levels and background noise.Photo:Sennheiser
